 Bangor Obedience Show
Down District had 2 first prize winners at the first obedience show of the year in Bangor yesterday. Alison and Zara had their third and final win in A, which hopefully bodes well for Crufts next week. In the Beginner class we had a new name with Lizzy Blacklock and her weimaraner Buddy winning in their first 'proper' competition class.
Congratulations to them both and good luck to Alison and Ruth for Crufts.

All Ireland Winter League 2nd and 3rd Rounds After the previous two cancellations due to bad weather, the 2nd and 3rd heats of the All Ireland Winter League were held at the Patch yesterday in wonderful spring like conditions. Maynard Rea and Tracy Russell, on her first judging appointment, set 4 lovely courses which were fun to run.I think all the competitors were just happy to be out enjoying themselves with their dogs.
Karen and Tess again won one of the Medium Jumping rounds and Jennifer and Paddy won one of the Veteran classes.

 Crufts selection successes
We're delighted with the news that two club members have been selected to go to Crufts as part of the NI Inter-Regional Obedience team - a team of of only 6 handlers and their dogs. Ruth and Riley have had a very successful year, winning Class 'C' on several occasions and Alison and Zara have moved quickly through the classes this year and will be the Class 'A' competitors in the team. What a wonderful Christmas present for them both!
Many congratulations and we wish them the very best of luck in March.

 Castlereagh Obedience show
Unfortunately, the poor weather conditions prevented some competitors from making the journey to Castlereagh's Obedience show, although the roads were generally trouble-free and the venue was a good one. The organisers even managed to keep the children off the indoor climbing wall until the show was over. We had two first prize winners this week; Jill Davis and Bella won 'C' and Jennifer Agate and Jazz won their first Novice class. Congratulations to them both and thanks to the 2 judges; Pat O'Boyle and Ruth Martin for turning out to judge on such a cold day.

All Ireland Winter League Round 1 The first round of the All Ireland Winter League took place today, despite concerns that the atrocious weather of the preceeding days would cause it to be postponed. There was a tremendous turnout from across Ireland and it was great to see many new faces enjoying their first try-out at a 'proper'competition.
At this event we present the Northern Agility and Jumping trophies which have been hotly contested throughout the season and congratulations must go to our own Karen Bleakely and Tess who won the Cloud Club Cup for the Medium Jumping Dog of the Year and also the FiveNinePlus trophy for the overall most successful Medium dog.
Karen and Tess continued their success today by being the overall winners across the 3 height categories in the Jumping class.
Well done to them both.

Coleraine and District DTC Open Obedience Show
Not too many club members made the trip up north to Coleraine's winter show, but the good venue and the chance of a long windy walk along the magnificent beach always makes the trip worthwhile. It was even more worthwhile for Alison and Zara who won their second Class A within a very short period of time. Congratulations to them and best of luck should Alison decide to try for the 2011 Cruft's team.
