Lisburn and District DTC 2 Day Show Obedience and Agility championships Lisburn club ran its two day show this past weekend with mostly bright sunshine on the Saturday and miserable rain on the Sunday. As this was a championship obedience show on the Saturday and a championship Agility show on the Sunday, it attracted a big entry from across the water. Any wins, or indeed placings, were well deserved. On the Saturday, Karen and Tess won the Medium grade 1-7 Jumping class and Brenda Patterson and her GSD Megan had a first time win in the Special Pre-Beginnners class on the Sunday.
Congratulations to them both on their wins

Ballyrawer Show Obedience and Agility Winners Ballyrawer show is usually associated with suncream and shorts, but that was certainly not the case yesterday with a 'raw' wind blowing in from the sea and most competitors wearing at least 4 layers of clothing.
We did however have a few wins: Lizzy and Buddy had a well-deserved first in Beginner's Obedience with a lovely round of heelwork and set exercises. Jennifer and Jazz had a double whammy winning both Novice Obedience and the large grade 1-5 Agility.
Well done to them both

DOWN DISTRICT DTC AGILITY SHOW Castleward Our own agility show was held last Saturday, as usual, at the beautiful National Trust property at Castle Ward. We have always been fortunate with the weather at this show but unfortunately our luck seemed to have run out this year. We're thankful that we managed to get to midday before the rain came, but it did mean a rather miserable afternoon for competitors and show organisers.
The poor weather conditions did not deter some members from winning first place in their classes. There was a first time win for Anne McMillen and Clancy who won the grade 1-3 medium Jumping class and it became a family affair when her sister, Lynn with Dale won both the grade 6-7 small Jumping class and the grade 4-7 small Jumping class. There was another first time agility win for Alison and Zara in the grade 1-3 large Jumping class. Alison has been having great success with Zara in obedience but this was their first first in agility.

Down District DTC Open Obedience Show
We had another lovely day for our own Obedience show on Saturday, which was just as well as the A, B and C classes were all held outside. We had Audrey Johnson from England judging those classes and Michael McCartney from Lisburn judging the Junior classes. Thanks to both of them for all their hard work on the day.
Following on from her success on Easter Tuesday, Geraldine and Dazzle again won the Novice Obedience class, after a run -off against Jennifer and Jazz. This was a 'free run' for Geraldine, but again sadly there is no photograph as yet.

 Belfast Dog Show Society Show
This was the first outdoors show of the season and was blessed with fine weather. We had 2 winners from the club. Karen Bleakley and Tess won the Medium 1-7 agility and Geraldine Russell and Dazzle won their second Novice Obedience class. Sadly, as yet, we have no photo of Geraldine and Dazzle.

Congratulations to Mary and Misty in winning the Scottish Terrier League - a great achievement for a dog that's nearly 12 years old. This particular team have had a very successful agility career -well done to them both.

Lisburn & District DTC Open Obedience Show
A last minute change of venue for Lisburn show ensured an excellent location with good car parking and space for exercising dogs. There was a large number of entries and I imagine that the show organisers were there well into the evening. Alison and Zara, back from competing for the N Ireland & Isle of Man team at Crufts, had a well deserved win in Class B.

Celtic Winners Championship Show St Patrick's Day The Celtic Winner's show is always a huge affair with lots of activity and many visitors which can be very distracting for dogs and handlers alike. We were fortunate in having a dry day, but there is always a biting wind at the Clogran venue and this St Patrick's day was no different.
Charlie Wyatt, fresh from judging the Championship classes at Crufts last week, set some lovely flowing courses with just enough of a 'bite' to trap the unwary. Karen and Tess made the 50% cut from the qualifying rounds and went on to win the Green Star medium Championship class, while Audrey and Molly were successful in winning the grade 4-7 medium agility class.
Congratulations to them both.

Good Citizen Scheme Bronze Award Although there were only 3 participants and 2 dogs who took their Good Citizen Bronze Award assessment last night, they passed with flying colours. Eve and Cleo Megaw had put a great deal of hard work and effort into training their little poodle, Pixie and it was lovely to see this level of involvement from the young people. Sarah Jarden and her labrador Sushi were also successful and it was again obvious that Sarah had been working hard with Sushi.
Well done to all three.
