    Down District DTC Obedience Show

    Down District DTC Obedience Show

Our April obedience show was held, as usual, at our training venue near Annahilt and we were lucky to enjoy a dry, if somewhat colder than expected, day. We were also fortunate that our English judge, Kamal Fernandez, was able to fly over without any difficulty given the disruption to flights in the preceeding week. Kamal set a challenging test for Class C which was won by our own Ruth Martin and Riley.

Our other two judges, Jacqui Bracchi and David Marshall also did a great job and several club members were successful in both their classes and Kamal's other classes. Brenda Patterson and Megan were the highest placed pair in the Pre-Beginners Class, while Miriam de Groot and Britney won the Beginner's class. Class A was won by Alison Pell and Katie. Congratulations to them all.

Kamal ran a very successful and informative training day on Sunday which was well supported by both club members and vistors from other clubs. It was by all accounts both exhausting and good fun.

    Winter League 2010

    Winter League 2010

The final day of the Winter League 2009 -2010 was a beautiful spring day with plenty of sunshine and no noticeable volcanic ash! Maynard Rea was judging the final competition and set two fast and fun courses.

Audrey Hanna, who won the overall agility last year with Teela, was again succcessful, but this time it was with her medium xbred dog Molly. She won the Medium Jumping and was 3rd overall in the Jumping across the 3 height ranges. Well done to them both.

    Easter Tuesday Show

    Easter Tuesday Show

The first outdoor show of the season at Balmoral Show Grounds did not have an auspicious start as heavy rain continued to fall for most of the morning. However it did clear up in the afternoon and there were even some sunny spells. Fortunately the ground was well drained and there was a good distance between the Obedience and Agility rings.

Kirsty did a good job on her first official agility judging appointment with nice flowing courses and just enough 'bite' to catch the unwary. However the Medium 1-7 Jumping course did not catch Karen and Tess out. Congratulations to them on winning the class.

Congratulations also to Miriam de Groot and Britney for their first obedience win in the Pre-Beginners Obedience. I'm sure this is just the start of a successful obedience career.

    Wedding Bells

    Wedding Bells

    Tracy and Simon's Big Day

Many congratulations to Tracy and Simon who tied the knot on Saturday 20th March 2010. They had their wedding at Rowallane gardens in Saintfield and fortunately for them, the weather was kind. Tracy looked beautiful in her dress and Simon cut a very dashing figure in his kilt!

We did wonder why they were not at agility training that morning, but we all wish them the very best for their future life together.

    Winter League Successes

    Winter League Successes

    DDDTC members win

Congratulations to Audrey and Mary for their fantastic wins in the All Ireland Winter League 2008-2009. The Winter League is run over 6 Saturdays throughout the winter and the best 4 scores for each dog and handler team count towards the final score. Competition is fierce and winning the coveted trophies is keenly contested amongst the top dogs and handlers across the whole of  Ireland.

Audrey and Teela won the overall Agility across all three height categories and Mary and Misty won the small dog Agility category.

The club is very proud of their successes and hopefully the 2009-2010 Winter League will prove lucky for them and other club members.
